Regulation (EC) No 2679/98 - Obstacles to the Free Movement of Goods
Council Regulation (EC) No 2679/98 of 7 December 1998 on the functioning of the internal market in relation to the free movement of goods among the Member States obliges each EU Member State to take necessary and proportionate measures to ensure free movement of goods within its territory. The information exchange procedure implemented under this Regulation provides for the obligation to notify and distribute information concerning any restriction or impediment to the free movement of goods which may arise for various reasons - by the activities of authorities or individuals.
In order to establish a network of contacts across the EU and to ensure the rapid transmission of information under the early warning mechanism set up by the Regulation, the Commission invited the Member States to designate their respective National Contact Points.
UNMS SR performs the function of a contact point in accordance with the Act No 55/2018 Coll. on the provision of information on technical regulations and obstacles to the free movement of goods and communicates in the matters of this regulation with the European Commission and contact persons established within the higher territorial units in the Slovak Republic.
